Constructed from over 500 hours of never-before-seen footage in Spanish and English, this documentary focuses on the career of Argentinian celebrated football player Diego Armando Maradona. Selected at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival, Asif Kapadia’s documentary tells the wild and unforgettable story of talent, glory, despair, betrayal, corruption and redemption of the most acclaimed football legend of all times, Maradona, proclaimed by his fans “bigger than God himself”. After the BAFTA and Oscar-winning films “Senna” and “Amy”, Asif Kapadia comes full circle on his trilogy on icons.
