Take a Closer Look: Christmas Special - Sunday 15th December at 11am

Get into the festive mood with our Spanish & Art Christmas special "Take a Closer Look" session.

On Sunday 15th December we will explore in detail the most beautiful Nativity paintings at the National Gallery.

Imagine a world where shepherds and wise men gather around a humble manger, bathed in the warm glow of candlelight.

Prompted by questions in Spanish, you will analyse, inspect, dissect, and mindfully engage with the work.

Using our inherent powers of observation, we will look hawked-eyed for things that normally go unnoticed, such as composition, size and scale, colour, light, space, placement within the gallery, etc

You will become familiar with vocabulary to articulate what you see. Not only will you learn about artists and history, but you will also deepen your ability to perceive, and you will gain confidence describing and talking about art in Spanish.

This session is ideal for students with at least an A2 level of Spanish (equivalent to Spanish House London Continuacion courses and above). It will be led by a native Spanish art historian and Spanish language teacher. Absolutely no knowledge of art is required.
