Discover fascinating Latin American contemporary art at Tate Modern whilst practising your Spanish.

In this guided visit in Spanish, we will explore powerful and poignant artworks made by Latin American artists in the last few years. Through the artists' eyes, we will unveil the main concerns of this part of the world. More than ever, expect to exchange ideas and opinions, all whilst practising your Spanish.

This is a two-part workshop. Each part explores different artists, and the contents and themes are separate. Part 1 will take place on Saturday 28th September and Part 2 on Sunday 26th January. Both visits are independent and self-contained. You can attend either one or both.

In Part 2 (Saturday 14th December) we will discover how Chilean, Cuban, and Mexican artists address identity and the body, and use local folklore, craft, and unusual media in their artworks.

This is a welcoming, fun, and friendly discussion-based tour in which you will put your Spanish into gear. You will not only learn about art, but you will also be encouraged to be critical and express your own opinions. Absolutely no knowledge of art is required, just an inquisitive mind and an interest to learn and exchange views.

The ideal level of Spanish to attend this visit is A2 or above (equivalent to our Continuacion courses).

You will be provided with a vocabulary list in advance, so that you can familiarise yourself with the words we will use in the tour. Please let us know your level of Spanish when booking your place. Spaces are limited, please book in advance. You do not need to book a ticket to access the gallery, as this will be provided.

We will meet on Saturday 14th December 2024 at 11am outside the Schools Welcome Room on the Ground Floor of Tate Modern (Bankside, SE1 9TG). The Schools Welcome Room is located just opposite the cloakroom and toilets on floor zero. If you access the building through the Turbine Hall entrance (side entrance), turn left at the bottom of the ramp.

Look for the Spanish House London logo. If you have any troubles finding us, please contact us on 07775 583 740. The tour will last approximately 1.5 to 2 hours.
