Our lawful bases for the collection and use of your data
Providing services and goods
- Consent – we have permission from you after we gave you all the relevant information. All of your data protection rights may apply, except the right to object. To be clear, you do have the right to withdraw your consent at any time.
- Contract – we have to collect or use the information so we can enter into or carry out a contract with you. All of your data protection rights may apply except the right to object.
- Legitimate interests – we’re collecting or using your information because it benefits you, our organisation or someone else, without causing an undue risk of harm to anyone. All of your data protection rights may apply, except the right to portability. Our legitimate interests are:We collect basic contact information (names, emails, and phone numbers) when individuals submit website enquiries, take our Spanish level tests, or request course details. This allows us to respond accurately to their requests, provide appropriate course recommendations, and offer student support. The primary benefit is to the individuals, who receive the specific information or level placement they asked for. The data collected is minimal, non-sensitive, and limited entirely to what is necessary to answer their query. Because this processing matches the explicit expectations of the user and carries negligible risk to their privacy, our legitimate business interest does not override their rights and freedoms.

Our legitimate interests are:We use the contact details of our existing students and active enquirers to send essential service updates (such as class schedule changes or course restarts) and highly relevant information about our upcoming Spanish courses, cultural social events, and referral discounts. The benefit to our students is that they stay informed about the courses they are taking, retain continuity in their language learning, and can access exclusive discounts. The benefit to our school is maintaining student engagement. The impact on privacy is minimal because we only contact individuals who have already shown a direct interest in our classes, we do not share their data with third-party marketers, and we provide a clear, instant way to opt out or unsubscribe in every communication.
